  1. Nuclear Shutdown-
Instead of the politicians shutdown a reactor, now instead it's the invertebrate jellyfish. At a Swedish nuclear plant, a large group of jellyfish were in an intake lake near the reactor. This nuclear plant makes about 10% of Sweden's electricity. The reactor was back up and running on Wednsday.

  4. The Obama administration said it would allow the states to use their own money to pay for park operations. Arizona, Colorado, New York, North Dakota and Utah were among those that jumped at the chance. Tthe shutdown has been particularly harsh on those who rely on tourism, such as communities near the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone national parks. Utah was the first state to take up the offer, and all five national parks located in the state reopened Saturday. Colorado also reached agreement to reopen Rocky Mountain National Park and tourists returned Saturday to the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Figures compiled by a coalition of retired park service workers indicate that some 700,000 people a day would have been visiting the parks and that the surrounding areas are losing $76 million in visitor spending per day.

In some stores people were taking everything they could get their hands on. In other places the cards wouldn't allow people to buy anything at all. The glitch affected 17 states. Some stores say it was worse than black friday. Once the cards were back to normal, people were still charged with what they bought. One lady bought $700 worth of groceries and she only had 49 cents on her card.
