  7. Yusuf Alchagrovi, and 80 year old Russian man was in a raspberry field when he was confronted by a large, hungry Russian bear. Despite his age, Yusuf sent a volley of kicks and headbutts at the bear. The bear was knocked off balance. As the bear got up it threw Yusuf off of a cliff. Yusuf survived and went to the hospital. He sustanted bruises, bite wounds, and four broken ribs. Experts say that if Yusuf had "chickened out" and not hit the hungry bear, it would have killed him. The three images in question depict a soldier, a ninja and a Star Wars character - possibilities for the 8-year-old's Halloween costume. Each of the drawings show the character holding either a gun or a knife.During the meeting, the headmaster also showed Jeff his son's journal, where the headmaster had highlighted words he found violent and unacceptable.
One passage about escaping a killer zombie at a haunted school read:
"I'd open the window, but, stand back quickly. Booby-trapped. Shoot the gadget - a rope gun - I'd swing across without getting hit." Many of the third-grader's other journal entries were about saving the earth and protecting humanity.

Poyner Elementary fifth graders Emma Larsen, Hannah Cary, Linkin Sarauer, and Willow Ross are hard at work making and selling rubber band jewelry. "We're selling rubber band bracelets to raise money for Angels' Park, and we're going to plant flowers there," said Hannah Cary. All the girls were classmates with Elizabeth Collins. Last year, the girls helped out with a penny power project to raise money for these benches in front of the school in memory of Elizabeth and her cousin Lyric Cook. This year, the girls decided to sell jewelry to raise money to plant pink and purple flowers at Angels' Park, which is a memorial at Meyers Lake in Evansdale in honor of Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook. The girls sold the jewelry at parent-teacher conferences and got great feedback. The items range from five cents to five dollars. Their goal was originally 100 dollars but now it is 500 dollars. Emma, Hanna, Linkin and Willow said they plan to do something every year to remember Elizabeth and Lyric.

Paul found a video online about a prosthetic hand that anyone could make with a 3-D printer, based on a design by Washington state inventor Ivan Owen. Now Leon proudly calls himself a cyborg as he shows off his functioning robotic hand. The coolest part: It didn't even cost that much. After spending around $2000 on the printer, materials only cost about $10 — much less than the tens of thousands a prosthesis would cost.

Little did they know they would find some of the worlds best masterpieces that would be worth a fortune. These 1,500 paintings were taken by the Nazis in World War two from family's and art galleries. The total amount of the 1,500 paintings were worth just a little bit over a billion dollars. Many people thought that the painting had been destroyed when they were taken by the Nazis. People are now wandering why this is now just becoming public since this happened in 2011, and are thinking that something may have happened during those two years.

  28. Is India's Mars mission the latest escalation in Asia's space race?
A successful mission by India's Mars orbiter would make the country the first Asian nation to reach the Red Planet . Tuesday's launch was successful, but the plan to send the Mangalyaan, or "Mars craft," on a 680 million-kilometer journey into Mars' orbit is raising some suspicion. People have begun to believe that there may be a space race in development for Asia. Koppillil Radhakrishnan, the head of India's Space Research Organization, has reassured people his country is not going to be involved in competition with any other nation. India chose Mars, because they plan to improve its telecommunications infrastructure and environmental monitoring with satellites. A communications system could give an advance warning of a cyclone. While most people believe that this is the reason India is going, many people say they just want to be a part of the "space group". The only people that have sent spacecraft to Mars are the U.S., Europe and the Soviets. Will India join us on the list?

He says "it's not a continuation of songs from the first album, but rather a revisitation to the style from the original MMLP" which was released in 2000. On previous albums he wrote songs dissing his mother, but on his new album he has a song called "Headlights" where he apologizes to his mother, hopefully repairing their relationship. The album has already received good reviews, and contains 16 songs plus an additional 5 songs on the deluxe edition.

Sometime that afternoon, the 9 year old horse that she had gotten a month earlier was standing on the wooden cover for the well and the cover broke. The horse fell into the 20-30 foot irrigation well. The Caretaker saw the top of the well was mangled and ran over to see what happened. The horse named Buddy had water up to its neck, and was treading water. He was about 8 feet down in the well, so the local fire department decided to pump water into the well so he would float up to the top. When he got close enough to the top a crane was used to lift the 1,000 pound horse completely out of the well. Despite the near death experience, Buddy only had a bruise over his eye, and some scrapes on his legs.

  56. The FDA is putting a ban on all trans fat. If the food has trans fat in it, it cannot be legally sold in the US. The FDA is saying that trans fat is no longer considered safe for consumption. Partially hydrogenated oil is formed when hydrogen is added to liquid oils to make solid fats, like shortening and margarine. It increases the shelf life and the flavor of foods.

  60. Astronomers have spotted a never-before-seen phenomenon in our solar system's asteroid belt: a space rock with six tails, spewing dust from its nucleus like spouts of water radiating from a lawn sprinkler. Scientists using the Pan-STARRS 1 telescope at the summit of Maui's Haleakala volcano in Hawaii first detected the six-tailed asteroid in August. They dubbed it P/2013 P5 and noted that it looked fuzzier than typical asteroids, which usually appear as tiny points of light. More detailed observations with the powerful Hubble Space Telescope in September revealed a clearer picture of asteroid, showing it had six comet-like tails.
