American Sarah Hendrickson is hurting at the Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. While Sarah is back and competing in the Olympics as a ski jumper, she has returned as a shadow of her former self. The 19 year old defending World Champion was struggling in the first round on Sunday. Even worse for Sarah, she is admitting her knee is causing herself pain. Sarah requested a lower gate to her other jumps, knowing her jumps won't be as high as the other contestants because of speed difference from the starting point. The american had the ride of his life and at the end it left him speechless. Olympic games are not bringing in enough viewers to fill the seats. Even when mens ice skating was in session they were still enable to fill all 8,000 seats. They were only able to fill about 75% of the seats during that event. One of the major reasons is that people are afraid of a terrorist attack at the game. Even though 80% of events have been sold out they are still having low turnouts. Tracy Barnes won a spot on the US Olympic biathlon team Sunday, but she's not taking it. She gave up her place so her twin sister, Lanny, could go instead. South Korean speed skater Lee Sang-hwa won gold in the women's 500-meter speed skating event. She also set Olympic records for her times beating the previous best by 0.02 seconds for the fastest lap and by 0.05 seconds in the overall time. This is not a surprise though because she was the favorite for the women's 500-meter speed skating competition this year.
An upset opened the day's events in Russia when Team USA's Sage Kotenburg won the first gold in men's snowboard slope style. Kotenburg's winning score was 93.5 edged out silver medal winner Staale Sandbech.
Shaun White, the face of snowboarding, was supposed to leave Sochi with two gold medals. He was going to be the first Olympic champion of the inaugural snowboarding slopestyle event and make Olympic history by winning his third straight halfpipe gold. Instead, after withdrawing from the slopestyle competition at the last minute and finishing in fourth place in halfpipe on Tuesday, White is going home empty-handed.
Shaun White a two time Olympic gold medalist was trying for his 3rd straight gold medal which has never been done in the history of the winter Olympics before. Shaun White and many others complained about the half pipe being poorly built, and the high temperatures didn't help with the situation. Shaun dropped out of the Slope style competition because he believed it was too dangerous, so he was completely focused on the half pipe, but when competition time came he wasn't on his game. In fact his first run put him in 11th place, and could not put down a big enough run to earn him a medal. Shaun ended the half pipe competition in 4th and went home with no medals.
This year's olympics costed 51 billion dollars, so at that price it should be pretty great. The olympic flame in Sochi can actually be seen from space. A group of 38 crew members aboard the international space station took the picture in Sochi.
A Russian athlete Anton Gafarov broke his ski during the Men's Sprint Free Semifinals at the Sochi Games, and fell down. But a nearby canadian coach Justin Wadsworth, came in to help. When Anton came to a stop and tried to get up and ski he couldn't get his ski back on but Justin came onto the slope and fastened Antons broken ski back on. Many people are calling this true olympic spirit and sportsmanship.

American freestyle skiers occupied the entire podium in a slopestyle event. Joss Christensen won the champion’s title, his result being 95.80 points, Gus Kenworthy was the second at 93.60, and Nicholas Goepper (92.40) claimed bronze.

Last night, Tina Maze and Dominque Gisin tied for a gold medal for alpine skiing. It was the first time in alpine skiing history that two people tied for the gold medal. They both finished with a run of 1 minute and 41.57 seconds.

Alpin Skiing was tied by Tina Maze and Dominque Gisin lastnight. They both were done in a minute and 41.57 seconds, first time two people have ever finished in alpin skiinng history. A couple years ago, two other racers tied in second place.

Oscar Pistorius has apologized for his complaints about the length of his rivals' prosthetic limbs after his loss in the 200-meter sprint at the Paralympic Games in London. He said the limbs were unbelievably long.
