  5. A new "anti-social network" has been developed to help you avoid exes and friends, or anyone you'd rather not run into in general. It's called Cloak, and it pulls information from Instagram and Foursquare to tell you where your 'friends' last checked in from and how long ago it was. The creators are hoping to add Facebook to that list soon. Users can set the app up so it alerts them when specific people are nearby.
This can help people because they might want to avoid a chatty coworker or their ex, or they might not want to be seen while shopping or on a date.

  17. Medical marijuana might be the most effective medicine to provide relief of symptoms caused by multiple sclerosis. Multiple Sclerosis is a disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. It is similar to Parkinson's disease. Multiple sclerosis damages a coating around nerve fibers in the central nervous system, which interferes with the transmission of nerve signals between the brain, spinal cord and the rest of the body. Researchers found certain forms of medical marijuana could help reduce spasticity, or spasms, and pain for up to a year. It can't cure the disease, but it can take some symptoms away like weakness, balance problems, numbness, vision loss, bladder and bowel issues.

  26. Astronomers have discovered a dwarf planet that's even farther away than Pluto. The dwarf planet's current name is 2012 VP113. Astronomer Chad Trujillo co-discovered the planet. The dwarf planet is unusual because of its orbit. On its elliptical path, the closest it ever comes to the sun is still very far away from the rest of the solar system. Its full orbit is farther than the orbit of any other object we know of in the solar system. Trujillo also co-discovered other dwarf planets including Sedna and Eris.

  28. Apple is in talks with Comcast about teaming up for a streaming-television service that would use an Apple set-top box and get special treatment on Comcast's cables to ensure it bypasses congestion on the Web. Apple wants to do this to allow users to stream live and on-demand TV programming and digital-video recordings stored in the cloud effectively taking the place of a traditional cable set-top box. Apples goal would be to make sure users don't see hiccups in the service or buffering that can take place while streaming Web video, making its video the same quality as Comcast's TV transmissions to normal set-top boxes.

  31. Someday, swarms of satellites the size of a tissue box will be snapping pictures, taking environmental readings and broadcasting messages from orbit — but the entities controlling those satellites won't be governments. Instead, they'll be hard-core hobbyists and elementary-school students, entrepreneurs and hacktivists. In short, anyone who can afford a few hundred dollars to send something to the final frontier. The technology for this outer-space revolution already exists: It's a type of satellite known as a CubeSat, which measures just 4 inches on a side. The CubeSat phenomenon started out as an educational experiment, but now it's turning into a crowdsourcing, crowdfunding movement of Kickstarter proportions. And not even the sky is the limit.

  33. Most of the vehicle safety features made mandatory by law, such as seatbelts and airbags. These provide protection to those inside the vehicle. But in a move to protect those outside the vehicle, specifically, in the blind spot behind the vehicle, the US Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a rule requiring rear view cameras to be installed in all new vehicles under 10,000 lbs in the US in 2018.
