  4. One Waterloo middle school student is taking a stand against his school district's dress code policy nearly two years after its implementation. Bunger Middle School seventh-grade student Jay Turner says his stand against the dress code policy started after he got a detention for forgetting a belt. "It kind of struck me how a belt, how they were cracking down on belts instead of doing bad things or doing stuff in the bathroom, doing stuff in class," said Turner. In April, he started a Facebook page called, "Students to Stop Waterloo Uniforms." Turner says in two months, the page has gotten more than 500 members. In a statement, Waterloo Schools says the school's goal is to provide a safe learning environment, and the dress code aligns with that. Turner says that's not necessarily the case. "The bullying, that's gotten a lot worse because if you don't wear a certain name brand polo or if you don't wear a certain kind of pants, then you'll get made fun of," said Turner.
Turner's mother agrees with her son about the dress code and says she's glad the page is a peaceful protest. "They're using their freedom of speech and they're not boycotting uniforms or showing up and causing trouble in any way," said Sherry Turner. The page now has more than 700 members and continues to grow. Turner hopes the school district will take notice of the discussion. http://www.kwwl.com/story/24990354/2014/03/16/waterloo-student-takes-stand-against-dress-code-through-facebook

  19. Many people know about the "billion dollar bracket deal", that Warren Buffet has announced. Now, he is teaming up with Quicken Loans. Although the contest entry is free, it comes with a cost. In order to enter the contest you have to have a Yahoo account, give Quicken Loans your email address and phone number, along with answering some questions about your mortgage to ensure you are an adult. The set amount of people who can join the contest is 15,000,000. That's potentially 15 million new email addresses and cellphone numbers the company has in fresh contacts.
Quicken Loans could sell the data to another company for a tidy profit. Vener says the response rate on an untargeted email blast might only be 0.5 to 1 percent. But with millions of emails in hand, a company buying that data could still have a large return on investment.

  24. A day that began with high hopes ended with uncertainty late Thursday in Australia as darkness put an end to the search for two objects captured on satellite and described as possible debris from missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.
Aircraft from Australia, New Zealand and the United States will resume the search Friday, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority said.
Sailors aboard a massive Norwegian cargo ship summoned to join the search will continue to work throughout the night, said Erik Gierchsky, a spokesman for the Norwegian Shipowners Association.
"All men are on deck to continue the search," he told CNN. "They are using lights and binoculars."
Hindered by poor weather in a wild, remote area of the southern Indian Ocean, neither the surveillance planes nor the Norwegian ship had managed to spot the debris photographed Sunday by a commercial satellite.
