  1. The preseason College Basketball coaches poll has came out and two Iowa schools find themselves ranked in the top 25. Iowa State is ranked 14th and Iowa is ranked 25th. Both teams came off NCAA Tournament seasons and they both look to repeat that type of success again.

  3. Sunday morning in Waterloo a 17 year old girl was killed in a shooting. This happened around 2 a.m. Police took Quaderious Spates (18 yrs. old) to jail and he is charged with possession of a weapon by a felon and trafficking stolen weapons. There is an autopsy Monday in Ankeny and the investigation is ongoing.

  7. Debuque businesses are envolved when 5 people are accused of using counterfeit credit cards. They were accused of using 13 credit cards with an amount of $25,000. Four out of the five are also facing charges in four other counties.

  8. Hospitals and doctors in Iowa have been preparing for the unlikely chance of an ebola case in Iowa. Clinics in Des moines have begun asking people if they have visited the areas in Africa where Ebola is common. The hospitals have been practicing using the protective equipment required for caring for an ebola patient. It is said that the risk for an ebola case in Iowa is very low, but it is important to have a plan just in case. The hospitals will need to have room available to isolate the Ebola patient.

  9. A shooting this Sunday at 2 am left a 17 year old female dead. The female has been recognized as Jazzmine Rembert. Rembert was found in the basement when police officers arrived on seen. Rembert was shot once in the head. So far a 18 year old named Quaderious Spates has been arrested with charges of Weapon by a Felon and Trafficking Stolen Weapons. Nobody at this time as announced the death as a homicide or a murder.

  10. On Sunday morning police officers found 17 year out Jazzmine Rember,t in a basement area of the home. Jazzmine had a gunshot wound to her head and was unresponsive. Waterloo fire department found Rembert dead at the scene. As of now police took 18 year old, Quaderious Spates to Black hawk county jail. He is charged with possession of weapons and trafficking stolen weapons.

  11. Gas prices keep dropping across Iowa. gasbuddy.com says that the average price is down $0.06 in the past week to $3.01/gallon. They say that The national average stands now at its lowest point since January 18, 2011, and by the end of this week, it could stand at its lowest since late 2010.

  14. Doctors' offices and Hospitals in Iowa are preparing for an unlikely possibility of a case of Ebola in the state. Clinics have now started to ask whether patients have visited the countries where the Ebola outbreak is based. Area hospitals are practicing using protective equipment the would be needed to treat an Ebola patient. The hospitals will have to be ready to isolate patients with symptoms consisted with Ebola.

  15. A couple originally from Prairie du Chien was sentenced five years in prison. The Police Department found a methamphetamine manufacturing operation in their Clayton County home. Their 7 year old son also lived in the house so they were faced with a worse sentence due to child endangerment also with the intent of selling the drugs.

  16. it will be held on November 4, 2014 to election a members of the United States Senate that represent Iowa. Incumbent democrat Senator Tom Harkin is not running for re-election to a sixth term in the office.
    U.S. Representative Bruce Braley was appointed for the Democrat election; the Republicans nominated State Senator Joni Ernst in a June 3 primary election. Doug Butzier, who was the Libertarian Party's nominee, died in a plane crash October 13. He will still appear on the ballot, alongside Bob Quast, Ruth Smith, and Rick Stewart that are on the ballot.

  17. A farmer has had over $18,000 worth of beans stolen from his field, Matthew Schuster has been farming around Dubuque and parts of Jo Davies county Illinois. He said over the weekend he went out to check his beans and someone harvested 18 acres.
    "They flat-out came into the wrong field and flat-out stole these beans," said Schuster.
    Schuster is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who has information about what happened to his beans.

  18. On Fri. Oct. 17 three residents of a West Union Residential Facility escaped from the Residential Facility located in West Union. Their names were Shaun McBride, Taylor Oaks, and Tyler Roe. McBride and Oaks are currently sex offenders and were being initially tracked by GPS at the time they disappeared. The GPS trackers were later found near the residential facility and had been cut off with scissors. A vehicle was also stolen in the location of the Residential Facility approximately the same time the suspects escaped.

  19. Authorities say a woman lied to a Des Moines pharmacy worker about a man threatening to hurt the woman's children if she didn't get him some drugs. Andrea Small now faces theft and other charges. Jail records say Small remained in custody on Tuesday. Her attorney didn't immediately return a call from The Associated Press. Police say the worker gave Small bottles containing several hundred pills. A car that picked up Small outside the drugstore was tracked to a Des Moines residence, where Small and three other people were arrested.

  20. On Friday, three sex offenders from West Union escaped from the facilities. Two of them were 21 and one was 23. They were being tracked with GPSs but later the GPSs were found by the facilities and seemed to be cut off with a scissors. A vehicle was stolen around the area at this same time too.

  21. A juvenile in Mason city, was drunk at Hoover Elementary school this weekend, He was reported to have been trying to incite fights. He had assaulted a couple kids, then the cops came and arrested him for assault.

  22. Matthew Schuster realized over the weekend that someone stole 18 acres of soybeans from his field. Officials say that they have never heard of people stealing crops. However livestock is robbed all the time. he's offering a $1,000 reward for anyone who has any information about what happened to his crops.
    looking for a small John Deere combine with a 13-foot grain head on it, or a 15-foot grain head, and 2 pickups with red and white wagons. Not that it matters, that could be anyone.

  23. In Fort Dodge, Iowa a man failed to pull over while he was driving his wife to the hospital because she was in labor. There are now charges pressed against him for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. The officer that was on call later said he thought they were drunks because they were the ones that usually didn't pull over for them. They had no idea what was really happening inside the car! The police was following protocol and laid out spikes to slow the vehicle down. The officers had their guns out and everything when getting the couple out of the car. The woman got out of the car thinking she was going to get tasered. As soon as they really knew what was going on they ushered them to the hospital. In the end a healthy little baby was born! The man is now working with the Calhoun County Attorney on his charges.

  25. Two people are arrested after authorities in Prairie du Chien discover a meth lab and all the items to go with it. Arrested were 23-year-old Dustin Roh and 35-year-old Callie Kirschbaum, both of Prairie du Chien.taken into custody on charges of manufacturing meth, possesion of meth, drug paraphanelia, And intent to sell.

  26. Michel Obama has visited the University of Iowa and also Minneapolis to talk about the election between Bruce Braley and Joni Ernst. She told the younger citizens that it would be up to them to decide who takes Senate. She talked up Bruce Braley since they are both Democrats. When she was talking she mostly talked to a crowd of black crowd. Tuesday was her second stop in Iowa for the election.

  27. Susan Hense a lawyer from Cedar Rapids faces up to 20 years in prison for fraud. On Monday Susan was pleaded guilty on one account of wire fraud in a Federal court. She admitted that she stole more than 873,000 dollars from her clients for the past three years. She told her clients that the money would be trusted on their behalf in a bank account.

  28. A women from northern Iowa has filed a lawsuit against her old employer after she had a theft case dismissed. She reportedly stole 10,000 dollars from the addiction center that she worked at. She now is suing them for libel and slander.

  29. The Dunkerton High school forfeit their football game friday night against Don Bocso. Because one of the players took a video of a fight at the school. Then the school board suspended the player and no game for friday night. So that was senior night for Don Bocso so during the middle school game they got honor.
