  1. Donald Trump called a CIA assessment stating that Russian hackers tried to sway the election in his favor. He told Fox News the Democrats were putting out the reports because they were embarrassed at the scale of the election defeat. On Friday, CIA officials told US media they had concluded that Russians hackers were trying to help Donald. Russian officials have repeatedly denied the accusations. Donald said it might have been Russia but it was impossible to know. "They have no idea if it's Russia or China or somebody sitting in a bed some place," he said. President Barack Obama has ordered a complete review of the hacks, which targeted emails at the Democratic Party and the emails of a key aide to presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

  2. In June of 2015, Dylann Roof started shooting at an AME Church (African Methodist Episcopal) in Charleston, South Carolina. He killed nine people, and is now facing trial. At his trial, they showed a two hour video where he explained what he did to the cops. He said, "Somebody had to do it. Black people are killing white people everyday. What I did is so minuscule compared to what they do to white people every day." During his confession video, he explained what he did with no emotion and his voice monotone.

Execution is a huge issue in the U.S. right now. A man in Alabama was sentenced to lethal injection. He heaved and coughed and kept moving his left arm for 13 minutes after being injected. They are trying to decide better ways to execute people who earn the death penalty. All of them are considered cruel and inhumane. The most effective way of execution and is not used in the U.S. is the giateen.

  5. The giraffe population is sharply declining and facing what they say a "silent extinction". It went to being a least concerned species to an immediate act to reverse the decline. The IUCN now have giraffes listed as vulnerable. Over the last three decades approximately 40% of the population has declined because of loss of habitat and illegal hunting. In 1985 there was 163,000 to 151,000 giraffes and in 2015 there was 97,562 said IUCN.

Last month was the 45th anniversary of the Attica Prison uprising. Thousands of US inmates contributed to a nationwide protest. This protest still continues today. The goal is to "End legalized slavery inside American correctional facilities." In California prisons there is discrimination, and excessive, violent force in Michigan.

There were only 94 people who bought that much, and they were all called to be notified that a generous secret santa took care of it. This happened in Everett, Pennsylvania. This has happened before but never in a such a small town. They haven't met him yet but want to and figure out what made him donate.

  10. Many Americans are happy to give up the scent and prefer buying a plastic tree every year. Unlike a real tree, a polyvinyl chloride tree is a great purchase that never turn brown and shed it's needles all over the living room floor. Families with a fake tree also avoid the chore of disposing of their tree in early January.
Even though real trees consistently outsell fake ones every year, many consumers consider the plastic tree more of a long-term investment. Last year, 25.9 million real trees were sold in the U.S. compared to 12.5 million fakes, according to the National Christmas Tree Association. Sales of both variations reached their peak in 2013 when 33 million real trees were sold, along with 14.7 million fakes.

A 5-year-old boy was very ill, but had one wish. His one wish was to talk to santa before he would pass away. The santa in Knoxville wanted to help the boy. He showed up at the hospital as soon as he could and talked to the little boy. The boy told him that he was going to die soon, but didn't know when he was going to get there. After talking with santa for awhile the little boy gave him a hug and as that was happening the little boy pasted away. The Santa was heartbroken.

In September, Michael Sandford pleaded guilty to being an illegal alien with a firearm in possession. He grabbed a policeman's gun at one of Trump's rallies located in Las Vegas. He may be eligible to be released in four months, then deported to the UK, according to the court. The defense team said Sandford is autistic and suffers seizures. In court, he apologized for what he did and said he "felt terrible about it". Standford was living illegally in the US and had driven from California to Nevada with the intention to shoot Trump, but he failed to pull the firearm from the police officer's holster. He had been plotting the attack for around a year and the day before his attempt, he went to a gun range and learned how to shoot.

She ended up running little over 16 miles before she was found, and she then returned home around 7:30 pm. She was lost because the rules were to stay on the jeep trails, and she had mistaken a hiking trail for a jeep trail. She also plans to enter another marathon, this time however, on the streets rather than on the trails.
