Andre Perez took a high up role in the transgender hotline after a partner of his became suicidal, he noticed how much people like that suffer. Andre wanted to help, and his help has been greatly appreciated lately. After President Donald Trump reversed the guidelines set previously by Obama on the transgender bathroom "issue." On February 23, the hotline his 329 calls, on average the line only hears about 139 per day. This means it's the most since November 8, when it hit more than 600. The hotline launched in 2014, and the last spike in numbers came when North Carolina disapproved transgenders the right to use the bathroom with the gender they corresponded with. The new bill states that the states decide the transgender policies for schools. Most the calls recently on the hotline have been people who are in a dangerous situation with harming themselves.

  13. Police in Philadelphia are trying to figure out who vandalized yet another Jewish cemetery over the weekend. 70-100 tombstones were damaged Saturday night at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The case is being classified as a institutional vandalism, but investigators haven't figured out a motive. There are cemeteries located on every corner of that intersection, but no vandalism occurred at the three Christian cemeteries. The vandalism that happened this weekend was worrying because a similar incident happened in St. Louis to a Jewish cemetery.

  19. US public schools are taking steps to protect their undocumented students. Chicago public schools say they will deny federal immigration agents access to district buildings and personnel unless served with a criminal warrant. School districts from Pennsylvania to California have stepped up efforts to allay fear and uncertainty in immigrant communities over Trump administration directives. They would significantly expand the power of immigration officers and could set the stage for mass detentions and deportations. After a December resolution affirming its commitment to a "safe and welcoming" teaching environment for all students, Chicago Public Schools this week sent a memo to principals who "expressed concern and anxiety" about immigration issues and guidance on handling interactions with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. "To be very clear, CPS does not provide assistance to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the enforcement of federal civil immigration law," Tuesday's memo said. "Therefore, ICE should not be permitted access to CPS facilities or personnel except in the rare instance in which we are provided with a criminal warrant."

  23. When Trump talked about axing and or pause some overseas assistance, it was like a cold wind swept over. Trump put out his budget for about $54 billion for military and smashing about the same amount for the non-defense programs. Foreign Aid, which is one percent of the federal budget, is expected to be one of the first things on the list for areas to cut. This would include military aid, debt relief, funds for long-term development programs and emergency aid. The US is by far the biggest finical contributor to countries in need. In 2016 alone, the US has donated about 29% of what the whole globe has supplied.
