Authorities reported Saturday that a Texas police officer blindly shot into a car, killing 15 year-old Jordan Edwards. The police officer was fired on Tuesday, but at the moment is not facing any other charges. The officer claimed that the officer's chief misspoke, stating the car was moving "aggressively" towards the officer's car, causing him to shoot into the car, but body cameras later revealed the car moving in the complete opposite direction. Jonathan Haber, police chief gave reasoning that the officer's behavior "did not meet core values" as an excuse for firing the officer.

After a relationship ended, an ex-boyfriend entered the pool area of his San Diego apartment on Sunday and began randomly shooting at people who were there for a birthday party. Sometime during the shooting, 49 year old Peter Selis took a seat in a lounge chair and called his ex-girlfriend to tell her that he shot two people. He kept her on the phone as he continued shooting people. He killed one woman and injured six people before the police shot and killed him. Another person was injured while leaving. They have no idea if it was racially motivated or not because he was white while some of the victims were not. The victims were targeted for no reason other than their presence.

President Donald Trump may be a new face on the scene, but other foreign leaders from around the world have quickly found a strategy for gaining his favor: flattery. British Prime Minister Theresa May used some of Trump's own talking points about himself, applauding his 2016 election win as "stunning" during her visit in January. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe praised Trump's golf game: "My scores in golf are not up to the level of Donald, at all, but my policy is never up, never in, always aiming for the cup." The other leaders are hoping that all of this flattery will gain them favor from the United States.
ReplyDeleteDuring an Instagram Live, Katy Perry made a joke about former president, Barack Obama. Someone commented on the video saying "I miss your old black hair." Recently, Perry has dyed her hair a blonde color. She replied back to the comment stating, "Oh, really? Do you miss Barack Obama as well? Oh, OK. Times change. Bye! See you guys later." Some people found this comment racially offensive, with Katy helping in the Black Lives Matter movement. Many people put tweets out to her, bashing her for what she said, thinking she was talking about his skin color. But others defended her saying that "Katy Perry meant she wants Obama back and can't have him same way ppl want her black hair and won't get it back."

ReplyDeleteRepublicans voted to pass their health care overhaul of previous president Barack Obama. The members of the house voted 217-213. When the digital ticker that counts votes reached the required 216 mark, the Democrats began to sing the chours to a Steam song, "na, na, na, na , hey ,hey, hey goodbye" and waved across the room to their Republican colleagues. While some Republicans went to celebrate the Democrats said they believe it will fall apart in the senate and those Republicans who voted yes, will see the consequences come reelection.
