A "Unite the Right" protest in Charlottesville, VA led to violence this between an anti-fascist group and a group of ultra-nationalists. The planned rally took place on August 12 to protest a statue of Confederate icon, General Robert E. Lee, being removed. Hundreds of white supremacists marched down the streets yelling chants like "White Lives Matter," "Jews will not replace us," and "Blood and Soil." One specific protestor, Christopher Cantwell, was reported saying "I carry a pistol and work out...I'm preparing myself for violence." He turned himself in and wasn't given bail. He was charged for two illegal uses of tear gas and malicious use of a caustic (Something that will burn or corrode organ tissue by chemical action) substance. These acts of hate, in my opinion, are higher-scale versions of the bullying we see in school today, and we should do all we can in our power to stop it.

Earth is undergoing its sixth mass extinction and it is more severe than people thought it would be. More and more species are becoming extinct due to human habits. Scientist have found that wildlife population is shrinking across the states as habitat shrinks. This is also happening to well known species which are not classified as endangered.
Habitat loss is not the only conflict that is causing us to lose our animals, but overhunting, toxic pollution, and global warming is also killing off our animals. "But the main crisis, say researches, is human population growth that leads to overconsumption."
This will not only affect the animals, but it will also affect us too since we are losing our honey bees.

As of the end of this year , antitrust regulators have now appointed a peer review panel to help with the plans of what to do with Google.
Google gets hit with $2.7 Billion fine by the European Union! The Union says that googles shopping service is giving itself an illegal unfair advantage. They did this by using their dominant position in internet searching to stifle competition. This was the largest fine ever handed out by the European Union. The last highest was 1.2 million given to Intel in 2009 in another case similar to Googles. The Large fines are being used as a threat for other companies trying to copy Googles template.

One thing this summer that happened that has really stood out to me, a baby named Charlie Gard. He was born with a rare genetic disorder. The court didn't think it would be helpful for them to go to the U.S. so the parents lost the legal battle and their son passed away from the disease shortly after.

India is also being hit hard with continuous rain for days, leaving the water as high as most people's wastes.
