  1. Ruby Martin broke the school record at her only high school swim meet. She swam for Iowa City West, and broke the record in the 100 fly getting a time of 55:01. She also got first in her 100 backstroke with a time of 57:81. In early September Ruby was put onto the National Junior Team. Since she joined the National Junior Team it created scheduling issues which ended her high school career after her very first meet of the season. She decided she wouldn't have time for both teams, and took the opportunity only 30 kids in the country get. One of Ruby's other accomplishments was finishing 4th in the 200 fly at the Olympic Trials.

  3. A lady by the name of Ginni Lemaster runs up to three to four races per year and she is 80 years old. She has never once backed out of a race. Ginni decided to start running after she realized that her grandchildren didn't depend on her. Her days got boring without them, so that's when she decided to start running. Her husband Howard is a photographer. He decided to take photos of Ginni while she ran each race. Ginni has gone through some obstacles because of her age such as back problems and falling down, but that does not stop her from running.

The Bears linebacker, Danny Trevathan, put his head down and hit Adams with an illegal shot. As soon as he was hit, he fell to the ground. Trainers examined him for about 15 minutes. He was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated for a head and neck injury.

  5. Last night during the Golden-State Warriors pre-season game against the Denver Nuggets the Warriors did not protest during the anthem as many expected. Shooting Guard Andre Iguodala noted "I think we've done enough" after being questioned. He along with the other Warriors feel that their voices have been heard and there is no need to protest. The Nuggets did protest by locking arms before the game. When asked about it, Draymond Green said they "Said what they had to say" and that protesting would just bring negativity towards the organization.

There was a joke made that the LA Chargers have 16 away games this year. Sunday's game against the Eagles was not a good day for the LA Chargers, the Eagles bought 70 percent of the tickets that were sold. They have already had 3 home games and are 0-4 to start the season off.

Elliot will be eligible to play until the court decides that District Court judge Amos Mazzant decides to hear Elliot's appeal or dismiss the lawsuit.

  10. John Carlos is an American sprinter. He became famous for his protest at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. He recently fired back at president Trump. He did this because he says Trump criticized NFL players who are taking a knee or sitting during the National Anthem. Many of his family were in the military and he believes they fought to take a knee. He claims it's in the first amendment to allow them to do this.

  11. During a game, all eyes were on the sidelines once again for the second Sunday in the NFL after Donald Trump's remarks about players protesting during the US National Anthem. In the latest game 52 players chose to sit or kneel during the National Anthem. 30 of these players were from the San Francisco 49ers. Last week 180 took a knee during it. At London's Wembley Stadium, 3 of the Miami Dolphins players, Kenny Stills, Julius Thomas and Michael Thomas knelt. President Trump urged all NFL players to stand for the National Anthem. "Very important that NFL players STAND tomorrow, and always, for the playing of our National Anthem," Trump said. "Respect our Flag and our Country!"

A group of six players, led by Michael Bennet and Cliff Avril sat on the bench throughout the song. The rest of the Seahawks were standing on the sidelines in a far more disorganized grouping, while the Colts were on the sidelines arms locked. An injured Colts quarterback, Andrew Luck was sining along.

  17. The Kansas City Chiefs and the Redskins battled it out last night in the Monday night matchup. The undefeated Kansas City chiefs led by Alex Smith came out victorious. They now have become the only team in the NFL with an undefeated record. This has been one of Alex Smith's best seasons yet, partial to the fact that the Chiefs Rookie star running back makes their run game relevant again. The chiefs are also aided by talented receivers Tyreke Hill, and Tight end Travis Kelce.

  26. Fox sports news station said in a statement that they will no longer show the national anthem before its NFL games. The NFL players are still calmly protesting about racial profiling, and protesting against president Donald Trump's comments. Many players choose to take a knee during the singing of the national anthem, and have gotten many negative comments. Fox will record the national anthem, but will not stream it live to the public. 29. It has been almost four weeks since quarterback Sam Bradford saw his last game action, and the Vikings are still classifying him as day-to-day. He hasn't practiced since Sept. 21, but the hope is that he'll be able to return to practice this week if that goes well, he could play against the Bears. With Dalvin Cook out for the season with an ACL tear, the Vikings are thin at running back and worked out several on Wednesday as possible additions. In the meantime, Latavius Murray, who had ankle surgery in the offseason, is expected to pick up a bulk of Cook's workload. Running back Jerick McKinnon also left last week's loss with an undisclosed ankle injury in the fourth quarter, but since Minnesota hasn't practiced yet this week with its adjusted schedule for Monday Night Football, there has been no injury report to update his status

Say it's a new all-or-nothing approach by hitters unafraid to strike out. Say it's a juiced ball. No matter what, it's an undeniable phenomenon. The American League Wild Card Game, which saw the New York Yankees defeat the Minnesota Twins 8-4 on Tuesday, featured five home runs.

  31. There is a new thing on the whole taking a knee during the national anthem and it is called #TakeAKnee and sports have always been a political thing say Jason Gay. On the latest episode of Recode Media with Peter Kafka Gay argued the in american culture all sports have always been political. Then Gay said the NFL players like Colin Kaepernick who have knelt during the national anthem for protest on police brutality and and oppression against African Americans is just the latest in a long legacy of athletes for decades.
