  1. A controversy at the skeleton track happened at this years 2018 Winter Olympics. Katie Uhlaender, an American world champion, is questioning Great Britain's race suits. They wear a special designed suit from a company in Great Britain. The suits are suppose to help with aerodynamics. They are deciding wether this should be allowed or not, because it may be conflicting with the rules.

  2. Vincent Zhou, a seventeen year old boy, has became the first figure skater to land a quad lutz in the Olympic competition. This happened when Vincent landed the four-rotation jump leading into a triple toeloop to open his short program. There is two other skaters trying the quad lutz in the short program, others are trying in the free skate. Vincent scored a 82.53.

  3. A Russian athlete threw away his shot at his chance too medal in curling at the 2018 winter olympics. The athlete tested positive for Meldonium. It has been prohibited since 2016. The drug is used to treat patience with heart attacks.   4. A French ice dancer named Gabriella Papadakis had a wardrobe malfunction during Winter Olympics. She was in the middle of her ice skating routine to "Shape of You" by Ed Sheeran when the incident occurred. A clasp on her costume became unhooked. It distracted the audience, but she still continued on with her routine knowing she was performing on live television. She claims that was her worst nightmare to happen at the olympics.

  5. Australian skier Lydia Lassila is no stranger to the olympics. From her first showing in the 2002 winter olympics in Salt Lake City, to the 2018 olympics in South Korea. She is 36 years old and didn't end her olympic career the way she wanted to. She missed the finals after wiping out, and ended up placing 14th. She earned a gold medal at the 2010 olympics in Vancouver, and bronze at the 2014 in Sochi. She was a freestyle skier and performed in the Aerials event.

  6. Of the Winter Olympics in the Mens skiing competition the first place winner was Aaron Blunck. He is from the United States. He had the best score of 94.40. The U.S.A filled the first 3 spots. Alex Ferreira and Torin Yater-Wallace finished both 2nd and 3rd place. One had a score of 92.60 and the other an 89.60. New Zealand then had 2 brothers finish in 4th and 5th place with the scores of 88.60 and 88.20.

  7. The U.S. has been off to a slow start with only 12 medals and the Olympics are over halfway done. The U.S. is projected to be ranked at 4th, when the Olympics are done. The medals the U.S. should have by the end of the Olympics are 27. The U.S. is currently tied with France for fifth with 12 medals. The U.S. has done well in Bobsledding and freestyle skiing in the past, this could be the turning point.

  8. A Russian athlete who won a bronze in mixed curling at the winter olympics failed a drug test. He is now putting his medal into jeopardy. The athlete has not been officially named, but some sources say he is Alexander Krushelnytsky. They found meldonium in his urine after the mixed curling tournament. Meldonium is a substance that is used to treat heart attack victims. This substance has been prohibited since 2016. It was commonly used by Russian athletes before 2016.

  9. The Jamaican women's bobsled team has had a hard winter olympics so far. Their German coach quit last week and the team only secured a sled to race at last minute. But that didn't top the team from competing. The pilot Jazmine Fenlator-Victorian and brakewoman Carrie Russell clocked 51.29 seconds in the first heat and then 51.50 seconds in the second. The times put Jamaica in 18th place.

  10. ROC says that Russian Curler Alexander Krushelnitsky has tested positive for doping. The consequences of him being caught may result in a stripped medal. After his bronze medal performance, Alexander was required to take a drug test on January 22. In this test they found a "B" substance in his bloodstream which was banned. They are still researching to find out which drug it was.

  11. Shaun White reclaimed his gold medal in the halfpipe. That wa shis 3rd gold medal and the USA won their 100th gold medal all time. He became the first snowboarder to win 3 gold medals. He also became the first US olympian to win 3 medals in one event. He on it with back-to-back 1440's.

  12. Just when you think it's over for Russia and controversy in the Olympics, it isn't. Another Russian Olympian by the name of Alexander Krushelnitsky, a curler for team Russia, has been caught doping and using PEDS. Investigators are looking to find how the banned substance ended up in his system. They have stripped Alexander of his bronze medal. There is still investigation of the Russian Doping incident, that has kept many Russian athletes out of the games.

  13. Team USA has beaten Canada for the first time in Olympic mens's curling. Canada's team has won gold in this event the last three Olympics. Canada was down almost the whole game. They tied the game up twice. The USA's last two round-robin games are against Switzerland and Great Britain.

  14. Elizabeth Swaney made her way to the Olympics. She is 33 years old and she has been practicing free-skiing for over 5 years. She is a U.S. citizen. Elizabeth Swaney went to Harvard and was not eligible to make it to the Olympics but with her smartness she snaked her way into the Olympics. Instead of competing for the U.S. Swaney decided to ski for Hungary. Skiing for Hungary gave her a better chance for meeting the International Ski Foundations requirements. With a little luck she eventually did make it into the Olympics with her very basic and average runs.

  15. A curler from Russia might be stripped from his newly earned Olympic Medal. Alexander Krushelnitsky failed his first doping test. The Russian Olympic Committee is investigating the incident. They want to know how a banned substance ended up in Krushelnitsky's body. The Committee claims the medal winner cleared his doping test in January. The Russian Sports Minister claims the outcome of the doping test "doesn't make any sense".

  16. A Slovenian hockey player, Ziga Jeglic tested positive for doping. He has been suspended for the rest of the 2018 Olympics. The results of the investigation will be released following the games. A press officer for the team said there will be no comment until the tests are returned. This is the third athlete in the games to get caught.

  17. The U.S. women’s cross country team won its first ever medal and it was gold. Led by Jessica Diggins and Kikkan Randall, the women’s team pulled off a huge upset and won the Olympic event, beating out the Swedes and Norwegians. The women’s historic win comes more than 40 years after Bill Koch won the only other Olympic medal in cross-country skiing and that was a silver.

  18. United States shocks the world in Cross-Country Skiing. The United States won gold in there feild. They ended on of the longest medal droughts in U.S. History. First American cross country medalists since a silver in 1976. This added another medal to the U.S. medal count, the athletes collapsed to the snow following there upset win.

  19. Aksel Lund Svindal is from Norway and he made history. He is the oldest person to win gold on the downhill ski. He is 35 years old. His gold medal is also Norwegians first gold medal in that event. He says that "I can imagine that everything I've accomplished and all the moments that I've been able to experience with my dad and my brother, that if she was there too, it would have been better." His mother died when he was 8. She died during childbirth.

  20. The USA cross country ski team won its first ever gold medal. While most Americans were sleeping the dream of cross country skiers getting a gold came true. After the race was over, the chief of sport and former cross country skier Luke Bodensteiner fell to his knees and cried. Athletes from other countries even celebrated with the USA on their first win.

  21. A Canadian women's hockey player immediately removed her silver medal after their lose to the U.S. women's hockey team. The Canadians team that pushed around the U.S. team around or most of the game and gave many penalties that came to a shootout lose. Jocelyne Larocque took off her silver medal right after she got it put around her neck. People on twitter said that it was poor sportsmanship. A women on twitter said "You can't win every time. Wait until you're off the off the ice to be bitter and salty."

  24. The u.s. finally beat canada in the ice hockey olympic event. It has been 38 years since they have won. The women also won their ice hockey event against canada. It was a major upset for canada but a great win for the U.S.

  26. The Women's US hockey team won gold. They beat Canada for the gold. The US hockey team won against Canada 3-2, The US have been in a 20 year gold medal drought. The US Men's Hockey team won in 1980 and it was called the miracle on ice and it one of the greatest games for the US team, and it was the 38th anniversary and the Women's hockey team won on that same date.

  27. Canada was upset and unhappy women's hockey player for Canada removed her silver medal after it was placed around her neck after they were beat by the USA hockey team. She was criticized on social media for being un sportsman like. A women on twitter said wait until your off the ice to take it off and be bitter and salty. Canada had pushed around the USA team and gave up penalty shots to give them a chance and the USA took it.
