"Can kitchen tech reduce excessive food waste?" July 11th, 2018 Food waste around the world is a big concern, but many companies are trying to develop products to waste less food. Ovie is a system of lights and Bluetooth buttons that track the freshness of food. The product was inspired because the creator found himself throwing away lots of food every day. Ovie has created lots of food containers that can alert people when food is going bad in their fridge. As the food loses freshness the light on the food container will change from green to yellow to red. They have also created smart tags that are clipped on containers that people already have in their homes, and also can be clipped on fresh vegetables. Ovie provides a way to make food storage smarter without having to pay a crazy amount for smart fridges.

One of the biggest technological advancements in the world has came from the military. It could have turned the tides of World War 2 if it's potential was seen. I am taking about an AR which is one of the best gun for on the ground combat. The Germans developed it during the War but Hitler didn't see it's potential and discontinued it. By the time he realized what he did and reissued it other countries had it and were able to win but if he issued he could have won the war.

Harvard Printer Blasts Droplets with 100 Times Earth's Gravitational Force:
A new printing design made at Harvard University's engineering school, uses sound waves to shoot droplets from a nozzle with a great amount of power. This allows researchers to print with liquids "thicker and more viscous" than ever before. Harvard University's engineering school has produced a machine that uses sound to print anything from honey to liquid metal using vibrations. This printer is designed to deposit droplets of ink so fast that much slower dripping wouldn't be sufficient enough, and couldn't do as good of job. No matter how thick or thin the liquid, once it reaches the proper size, the sound waves capture it, studies say. https://www.livescience.com/63483-printer-sound-blast.html

Forecasts of genetic fate just got a lot more accurate Never before have people been able to change the genetics of their future babies, but now doctors are able to. Doctors can currently test the genes of a baby and see their odds of having diseases, being an addict, and depression. This process is so advanced, that we will soon be able to change the genes of babies to make "the perfect" baby. Families will also be able to decide which color of hair, eyes, and skin they'd like their newborn to have. This is so advanced, parents can even test to see the IQ of their child. This type of procedure costs thousands of dollars, and there are still flaws in these new advancements, but scientists are still working to perfect this process.

Glowing Walls Respond to Strokes Color changing tiles are put on display at the Ifa tech show in Berlin. Co-founder of the colored tiles, Gimmy Chu, explains the design of the tiles and the reasoning behind their shape. They chose to make them triangular in hopes of attracting more attention from the people viewing them. The triangular shape allows the tiles to create more unique visions and displays. By simply tapping on the tiles, they change colors and create ripples. The main purpose of the tiles is a light source, much like a ceiling light or lamp. Gimmy Chu was asked why the tiles' cost started at roughly $1000, and why they chose to make then so expensive. He compared their price to a chandelier. Many dramatic and/or large chandeliers can cost up to five grand, which in comparison to the tiles, makes them not as expensive as they seem.

Is Samsung’s Long-Rumored Foldable Phone Actually Happening? Article Written: September 4, 2018
Samsung is in the debate about making foldable screens flexible enough for an 18-inch displays from LG and tablets that can literally fold themselves in half. The technology of this be half exists, but that’s really only the very first step to a gadget. When they make this product, the point is you will still be able to do what you can do on a regular phone, just the plus to the phone, or tablet itself is that it can bend 18 inches, into different shapes. Of course, Samsung’s demand might be a bit low, considering it’s the company that decided to make giant smartwatches you can really make a real phone call from, and questionable useful curved screen features. If Samsung is successful with this product, I’m sure the product itself will get very pricey, considering the fact that it is a foldable screened phone. As well if Samsung, is eligible to fix the things wrong with the IPhones, by creating their own touch screen curvable/ bendable phone the next step off in distance has been a slab of pure screen that can fold. Now, the CEO of Samsung’s mobile division says it is very high that it will finally be coming this year.

Scientists know that light has momentum and exerts force on whatever it hits. So tried using mirrors in a new study, the scientists said that mirrors always tell the truth. The scientists shot lasers at the mirror, and listened to the waves that were generated by the lasers with acoustic sensors. Before the experiment the scientists could only measure how light would transfer momentum to an object that is a whole. Pozar the head author/scientist said, "Currently scientists have a lot of ideas about how momentum is transferred from a light to an object.

Lionfish have been a threat to corals on and off for years now. Lionfish are predators to smaller fish that live around the corals such as amidst shrimp and small crabs. The plan fro the robot is to toss it off the side of a boat and have it start it's search. students at WPI take many photographs of Lionfish at every angle and in different lighting conditions, so the robot recognizing a Lionfish is %95. Students also programed pictures of divers in the robot so it knows for sure what not to shoot at. The robot has a revolver type layout with eight detachable spears. Coral Reefs need all of the help they can get because with rising ocean temps it is becoming a threat to the Great Barrier Reef.

ReplyDelete3D printing has been a part of the technological world for quite some time, but there has been recent updates to the structure. For the first few years of it's existence, 3D printing was only used by 18% of companies actively. Today, engineers have found a way to make 3D printing easier to manufacture parts while also staying cheaper then others. The companies Markforged, GE, and Desktop Metal have recently released these 3D metal printers to lessen the need for large inventories. These printers can help in the industrial world extremely with their new advancements.

Harvard Printer Blasts Droplets with 100 Times Earth's Gravitational Force:
ReplyDeleteA new printing design made at Harvard University's engineering school, uses sound waves to shoot droplets from a nozzle with a great amount of power.

Forecasts of genetic fate just got a lot more accurate
ReplyDeleteNever before have people been able to change the genetics of their future babies, but now doctors are able to.

Glowing Walls Respond to Strokes
ReplyDeleteColor changing tiles are put on display at the Ifa tech show in Berlin.

ReplyDeleteArticle Written: September 4, 2018
