"Vancouver officers free to smoke pot, so long as they arrive ‘fit for duty,’ police board says"
Vancouver officers, with the soon-coming marijuana legalization law in Canada, will be free to smoke under a set of regulations, instead of a 24 hour abstinence period, as decided by the Vancouver Police Board.
Officers will be able to smoke marijuana as long as they arrive "fit for duty". Officers can consume it as long as they do not do so for a certain period before their shift.
“Specifying a time frame can create an implicit approval that this period of abstinence is all that’s required to ensure fitness for duty,” says the report. It's said that the board does not want to create an illusion that an abstinence period is what draws the line between an officer fit and unfit for duty, as different people have different tolerances to drugs.
Officers will not be allowed to smoke marijuana "prior to the start of their shift", which is similar to how alcohol is handled, according to the article.

City 40
ReplyDeleteIn Russia there was a secret city built in 1945, called City 40 now set on the map as Ozerks. It is located along Lake Irtyash. The USSR used this power plant during the time of the cold war. City 40 was not the only secret city/power plant that was built during the that time period. The city's allowed no one in at anytime. The city was surrounded by barbed wire fences and was under security at all times. Besides it sounding like a prison the city's were told to be a enjoyable place to live. The streets would be lined with trees and the people had everything they needed from schools to grocery stores. The children were well educated and were actually smarter than outside people due to the knowledge they needed to run the plants.
