Tiger population in Nepal ‘almost doubles’ in size
ReplyDeleteFor ten years, Nepal has been working to save the tigers. In 2009, Nepal had 121 tigers, but now they have 235. Conservation crews used camera traps and occupancy surveys to approximate the number of tigers. Nepal is the first of thirteen countries to meet the Tx2 (Tigers times two) commitment by 2022. Nepal technically hasn't doubled the number of tigers, but they met the guidelines necessary to pass inspection. The 13 tiger countries agreed on this Tx2 agreement in 2010, and have been working hard to increase the number of tigers in their countries.
