  2. Taiwan’s art market: matters of taste
Taiwan used to own the majority of Asia's art market, but recently, that has changed. The Taipei Dangdai fair is hoping to bring Taiwan's art market back to life. The people of Taiwan are hopeful this convention will rebirth the arty in Taiwan. It's not that the Taiwanese people have been oblivious to the art market, but they have been buying domestic art from locations such has China. Taiwan has a lot of art buyers and collectors who like to buy expensive traditional art, which they can buy from Chinese artists for much cheaper than from Taiwanese artists. Many young Taiwanese buyers are more interested in international artists than they are in traditional artists.

    1. Architecture classes are helping children in Hong Kong develop critical thinking skills.
In one Hong Kong primary school, children as young as 9 have the opportunity to learn about architecture, urban design and planning. this all started by a organization called Architecture for Children, this organization had been teaching architecture and design skills to schoolchildren for the past 15 years.
many teachers in Hong Kong believe that children are not learning how to make decisions based on new information they didn’t have before. children get to learn how to draw and master their mechanical skills, which many teachers in Hong Kong feel like students don’t do enough of these days.

  11. How cities could be designed to combat the loneliness epidemic
    https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/design/city-cities-design-combat-loneliness-epidemic-a8656336.html

Urban architectural designers are talking about ways to solve the loneliness epidemic within cities. The article talks about social problems within the reality of our cities, such as people always being so close to each other, but never really making social communication. A reality of being surrounded by people, but always feeling alone.
The article says that chronic social isolation has the same effect on the body as 15 cigarettes a day.

People in the Melbourne School of Design are talking about potential urban architectural and design solutions to the social problem, such as improving and creating gathering places to draw people in, such as community gardens, nooks, and other changes to the urban landscape. One suggestion was to give discounts for people eating at the same table, and a program called "Nurture", a joint daycare and nursing home so that the elderly can have a better sense of purpose as aides for the young children.

A Painting Stolen From a Belgian Church Last Week Might Have Been by Michelangelo

Thieves entered a Belgian church on Friday and stole a work of art that the pastor believed was painted by Michelangelo. The church’s pastor noticed that a known sketch by Michelangelo features the exact same composition of the Holy Family as the painting. The 1538 chalk drawing by Michelangelo shows a sleeping baby Jesus resting across Mary’s lap as Joseph and John the Baptist watch over him. A witness is said to have seen a young man outside the church early Friday morning wearing dark clothes and a hoodie. The church did not have alarms, and a side door was found open in the morning. There are no suspects yet.

  17. An Architecture Firm Raising Money to Build Gold Prototype for Trump’s Wall Around Mar-a-Lago: Written January 15

The New World Design architecture firm in Chicago is raising money for a gold prototype wall. The wall will be built around Mar-a-Lago which is a resort and golf club. They plan on building it here because they want to send a message to what the wall would signify. People who are working on this released a “GoFundMe” campaign to make it. On the project website, it states the prototype will resemble a traditional white picket fence that will be 30 feet tall and colored gold to reference a time when America was great. The project’s website states “the design will allow the bad guys on the other side to look through and imagine the riches and moral integrity of being American.” The main purpose of this project wasn’t about the design but a message to the government's current activities.

  25. There are several new architectural advancements. Revit is a new and popular thing that architects enjoy using for models of their buildings. Many architects prefer 2D drawings over 3D drawings. That's surprising because 3D drawings show the whole entire model, instead of just one view. Rhino3D and Sketchup are also other tools architects may use.
