Stanford University has recently been building a new hospital. The hospital is expected to fully open later this year. Something special about this structure is its earthquake safety feature. On Sunday firefighters were called to a commercial building in downtown San Jose to respond to a report that former employlee threatened to start a fire in the the structure. Four firerfighters were injured and a body was discovered in the San Jose fire that police believe was intentionally set. The four firefighters were transported to a local hospital and in unknown condition after suffering injuries. They also found a body in the fire that believe is the man who threatened to start the fire. They are still investigating.
On Sunday, New York City firefighters responded to a building fire in Times Square around 7:30 am E.T. The fire caused another building to catch on fire as well. A school in Kenya’s Capital collapsed Monday morning. The school was constructed with corrugated metal and wood. The first floor of the building collapsed first, which trapped many children that were below. Sculptor David Černý and architect Tomáš Císař have designed a tower that make it appear as if an oil tanker has crashed into the side of a skyscraper. The planned project is set to be 135 meters tall and will the the tallest building in Prague, the capital city of Czech, if approved by planning authorities. Egypt is months away from re-opening the famous Baron Empain Palace. It was under reconstruction of $6 million dollars. It was repairing the Cairo Building. THe Baron Empain Palace was built by Belgian millionaire Baron Edward in 1911, in the Egyptian capital. The building needed much repair after the death of the Empain’s in 1929. There was a 3 story building that collapsed in Sierra Leone trapping dozens of people. This occurred in the southern city of Bo, which is the second largest city in the West African country. The building was under construction and at least 80 people where working on it at the time. Theres still about 50 people trapped and the missing are believed to mostly be construction workers. This was a case of poor construction and engineering work.

There is a building in downtown Fort Myers that will have to be torn down. It is the oldest building in Fort Myers and has been standing for 119 years. The owner of the building says she is sad that it has to be torn down and wished it could stay up. It has to be demolished because termites infested the building and ruined the wood structure. There will be a new building in the same spot after this one comes down that will look very similar.

Sculptor David Černý and architect Tomáš Císař have designed a tower that make it appear as if an oil tanker has crashed into the side of a skyscraper. The planned project is set to be 135 meters tall and will the the tallest building in Prague, the capital city of Czech, if approved by planning authorities. It was presented to planning authorities, along with eight other proposed projects. It will mainly be used as rental housing, however it will also have offices, a cultural center and shops on the lower levels. It will also have a publicly accessed roof garden. If approved, construction will start in 2021 and would take three years and 2 billion Czech Crowns ($84.5 million USD).

Recently, there has been a new skyscraper in the works in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. The building, the Top Tower, is said that it will be the tallest building in Prague if it is approved by planning authorities. This structure has been somewhat controversial to some people because it looks like an oil ship crashed into an office block. The main purpose of this building is to be used for housing, offices, and also featuring a roof garden.

Egypt is months away from re-opening the famous Baron Empain Palace. It was under reconstruction of $6 million dollars. It was repairing the Cairo Building. THe Baron Empain Palace was built by Belgian millionaire Baron Edward in 1911, in the Egyptian capital. The building needed much repair after the death of the Empain’s in 1929. The building was rented out as a place to hold social things, and as a film set. The ministry of Egypt has confirmed that the repairs the building, and is about 85% complete.

ReplyDeleteMy article is about three story building that collapsed in Sierra Leone. The building was still under construction when it came down. Seventy construction workers reported for work that day. They have rescued 10 people so far.
In Richland county, North Dakota, a fire broke out in an apartment building. Dozens where inside the building which is a hardware store and apartment. The fire chief only sees a few fires because of the area being rural but he was greatful that all of the training helped save all of the people. The building is over 100 years old and has multiple floors. Three people were stuck on the 3rd floor and had to be removed from the window safely. The community has all come together for this and are raising money for all of the families effected.

A 3 story building collapsed in Sierra Leone. 50 to 60 people are missing or feared dead in the rubble of the building. Most of the people were construction workers as the building was under construction. Only 9 people were rescued so far and are at a hospital. There are 2 excavators at the scene.

Stanford University hospital will be opening soon this fall. It is 824,000 square feet and cost 2 billion dollars. The reason it cost so much is for its safety for hurricanes. It has 206 base isolators that are like roller skates on the bottom of the building. Making it be able to move a little horizontally.
