  2. Mollie Tibbetts murder on August 21st, 2018 brought national attention. She was a student at University of Iowa. Her body was found in a cornfield and the cause of death was stab wounds. Controversy was made over immigration because the suspect of the murder was confirmed an illegal immigrant to the U.S. The trial of the suspect, Bahena Rivera, was set for April of 2019. This trial became delayed due to the interview of the suspect not being properly reviewed by the prosecution and defense. Currently, Rivera and his attorneys are trying to get the trial delayed longer. The reason for the delay request is that new forensic evidence was released earlier this month that can prove Rivera guilty, though he is pleading not guilty to first degree murder.

  18. This article went over the very slow process taking place to bring broadband internet to Iowa. Broadband is classified as 25 megabits per second download, and 3 megabits per second upload. Overall, the studies showing how many people are without broadband vary widely in their results, from 60 to 89% as given numbers. The big cities all seem to have Broadband speed internet, but maps show rural areas have big pockets without high speed internet. The article also throws out a number of 19%. It says that 19% of people have only one choice of Broadband internet provider, which is true in my case as well. Broadband internet is very important in work, school, and farm settings. Homework can not be done as fast, and neither can precision farmwork and many aspects within dairy and grain factories. Many people are disappointed in the progress of a project that started over a decade ago.

My story is about a family that came home to find their basement filled with animal blood. The house that the guy and his family were living in were connected to the same drain system as the meat locker next door. Animal blood, fat and remains came through the drain of the home (in the basement). They think this problem is happening now due to a clogged drain. The meat locker is going to help with any repairs on Wednesday.

Nick Lestina lives next door to next door to Dahl's Custom Meat Locker in Bagley, Iowa, where the source of the blood and animal fats came from. The cause of the backup into Lestina's basement is thought to be a clog in the tile line that the Locker and Lestina share. Nothing can be done about the backup until dryer weather comes. The Iowa department of Public Health has said that the home is now unsuitable to live in until the mess is cleaned up.
