The disease can't be diagnosed until an autopsy. Officials say as many as 13 other patients had the same equipment used in their operation and may have picked up the disease. Regular sterilization is not enough to kill the disease proteins of Creutzfeldt-Jacob disease. The disease has a very long dormant period, up to 50 years, and there are no tests for it so patients don't know if they picked up the disease. Officials say that the chance is low that the patents have been infected.

For 42 years, authorities have had no idea how Cheryl Miller and Pamela Jackson disappeared. They were 17-year-old high school students driving to a party at a gravel pit, when they maybe took a wrong or they were goofing around, and went missing. A car that appears to be theirs was spotted in a creek just half a mile from the girls' destination near Beresford, South Dakota. The license plate and hubcap match those of the car they were in when they vanished in 1971. Authorities in South Dakota said Tuesday that skeleton remains were recovered from the scene. A fisherman had spotted the car. The timing was very saddening. Jackson's father died last week at the age of 102. His funeral was Saturday. The car was found Monday.
Eight inmates escaped from prison after stealing the transport van from the Prisoner Transportation Services of Nashville, Tenn. The guard on duty left eight men in the van while he escorted one other inmate, that was complaining of chest pains, to the hospital. The guard left the keys in the van while it was also running. The inmates broke the lock on the fence that is supposed to keep the inmates and the driver separate, and they fled in the van for a few hours before fleecing on foot. All of the inmates where captured around 6 pm Tuesday.
After four decades they believe they found the car and girls that went missing 1971. They went missing and were believed to take a wrong turn or there may have been foul play. They were last seen in South Dakota. Cheryl Miller and Pamela Jackson went missing when they were only seventeen years old. Their car was found in an embankment. The car was covered in layers of mud. Which must be taken off by layers for evidence. The creek by where the car was found had gone down which allowed it to be able to be seen. They think taking the car out of the embankment could take days. This case has been reopened before, and it is being reopened again.

Spanish investigators are trying to figure out how a 5-month-old baby died on a baggage carousel at an airport in Alicante.
ReplyDeleteA spokeswoman for Spain's airport authority, AENA, said Thursday it's not clear how the baby ended up on the baggage belt for oversized luggage.
"The baby was on the baggage carousel, but could not have gotten there alone. Someone had to put the baby there. I don't know how the baby got there," said the airport spokeswoman, who by custom is not identified.
The infant's mother, an American woman, arrived at the airport late Wednesday on a flight from London's Gatwick airport with her baby and another young child, the spokeswoman said. The father, who is Canadian, was already there waiting at the Alicante airport, she added.

ReplyDeleteFor 42 years, authorities have had no idea how Cheryl Miller and Pamela Jackson disappeared.

ReplyDeleteAfter four decades they believe they found the car and girls that went missing 1971.

This problem will go on the boys' school record and it may effect his chances of getting into a high school after graduated. Khalid (mother) says it's an unfair punishment because they weren't on private property so she thinks it's ridiculous that they are being so severely punished.

Students at the University of Northern Iowa are being asked to take their black or red shirts off -- in exchange for something more purple.
ReplyDeleteAs Lucas Willett found out, his Iowa shirt was a target.
"Just woke up late for class and threw something on," he explained when asked about his shirt. "Wasn't really thinking."

Jacobson and Schwab thought of the idea for a T-shirt exchange. Every student who hands in an Iowa or ISU shirt gets a UNI shirt in return.
The goal, they said, is to look more unified as a campus. Even Schwab, a former Hawkeye, thinks it's a great idea.

A 400 foot section of the Leo Frigo Bridge located in Green Bay, Wisconsin suddenly sagged yesterday. Police reported that the bridge is close indefinitely. A motorist yesterday called 911 to report that there was a dip in the bridge instead of a bump. It appears that one of the piers that is holding the bridge up sank into the river about 2 feet. It was built in 1980 and was last inspected in August of 2012, and was structurally sound. Residents in Green Bay are calling it the "Cheese Dip" because Leo Frigo, who the bridge was named after was a Wisconsin cheese scion.
