Every year the U.S. government is losing $100 billion dollars in tax revenue. This data came from a congressional research group. The cause is because U.S. citizens and companies are shifting income and profits offshore. The number of people and compianies doing this has increased in the last few years. People are abusing offshore tax to avoid or evade U.S. tax. They shift to low-tax countries. People are evading taxes that they are legally required to pay. By increasing tax-reporting burdens the government tried to lowere individual tax evasion.
The U.S. government has been talking with Cuba about ending the fifty year rift between them. Only a day after the talk however, Cuban officials bashed on the U.S. saying the human rights record has been questionable. The Cuban officials have used Guantanamo Bay, Ferguson, New York, and other racial cases to support their questioning. Cuba has tried to emphasize their efforts of bettering human rights in their own country, when in reality Cuba is one of the world's worst human rights violators.
